2009 Fall Fun Fly

Postby francsm » Fri Sep 11, 2009 10:49 pm

Oct 3rd has been selected as the date for the Patuxent Aeromodelers Fall Fun Fly. :D Jonathan Wright will again be contest director, so contact him if you have any interesting ideas for events. As usual we will host a Pot Luck Picnic in conjunction with the Fun Fly. Please reply to this forum with what items you will be bringing for the picnic. :?: Typical items include:
Hamburgers, hot dogs, rolls, salads, chips, sodas, water, condiments, deserts, cookies, ice, coolers, a grill, etc.

I am sure Jonathan will come up with the 3 or 4 events which will be exciting and interesting as we compete for bragging rights. Lets make this event even bigger then the Spring Fun Fly by getting as much participation as possible. Bring the whole familyl for a great afternoon of fun, food, and entertainment.

See you there  ... Steve

Hi All,
I will develop the usual list of needed items for the funfly and post it early next week. Is anyone interested in having a chili cook off? I will figure out several events, I already have one in mind that we have never done before which will be a crowd pleaser. More to come.

I have had a request that we open our Fall Fun Fly up to the Charles County RC Club. I think this is a great idea, and a possible way to get a little more communciations re-initiated between our two clubs. Several years ago we had the WWI combat going on with the several clubs in the area, as well as the Tri-county fly-ins. These events were great fun and it allowed you to see just what types of aircraft were being flown by the other clubs in the area. The Charles County RC clubs flying field is just up in Brandywine and is a beautiful site with paved runways. Since our fun fly is mostly for bragging rights, and its a pot luck, bring your own eats... this would be a great way to generate a little more participation in some of our events. So Charles County RC Members.... Bring some food, and bring your planes October 3rd.... Looking to have a great turn out and a great time.... See Jonathan's previous posting for the typical list of goodies needed for the pot luck...

Oh by the way.... I will be bringing a case of water....

JW,

Sorry to say...I am going to be stuck in Greenville, SC until Sunday (Been here a week already...) and will not make the fun fly. All the food I signed up to bring won't make it because Luke will be at marching band competition, and my wife will be there watching. Sorry for the late notice but I thought there might be a chance that I'd be driving back Friday night. If by some miracle I get out of here in time, I'll bring some grub with me.

THE FUN FLY IS ON!!!!!! :D :D :D Its 8:30 AM here at the house, about 12 minutes away from Helwig, ahnt the sun is begining to burn through the early morning overcast.... The weather guessers are still saying temps around 78 and 30 percent chance of scattered showers.... Weather radar is looking good out to the 'west. We may dodge a quick shower or two late morning but looks like the afternoon is clear and nice.. winds 5-10.... I think we lucked out so come on out to the Fun Fly.... Don't forget to bring some goodies.... Fun Flys make everyone hungry.... :P

See you there........Eats typically begin around 11:30 - 12:00 (some members fly better on a full stomach) Events to follow after everyone has filled their bellies....

I would like to thank everyone who participated in today's Fun Fly Event. I hope everyone had plenty to eat and a great time. Mother nature decided to cooperate with us and the weather was great. I believe we had a record number of participants for each of the 4 events. I will provide a recap of the fun fly results in next month's news letters. I will be providing AJ with a number of pictures to post in our gallery, but here are a few of todays participants and they concentrate on their flying skills. A special thanks goes to our Contest Director, Jonathan Wright. As usual, he provided events that were entertaining as well as challenging....

Tnx for making this another successful Patuxent Aeromodelers event....

Dave... We're glad you guys could make it down. We will need to make an effort next year to try to have several "joint" activities with the local clubs. So often you pick a date for an event and not everyone can make it. Having multiple options would certainly increase participation for both clubs. The pictures are great. Thanks for posting them... :D
